URGENT!! This coming Saturdays CBA meeting has been canceled due to recent nearby fire activity. The Railroad Fire has not progressed the last two days in our direction but I want to be sure to not put any of you in danger if the fire decides to “wake up”. Meetings will resume October 14th. Any questions please call me at 559-760-0092 or message me here.
URGENT!! Please keep a close eye on this page for updates on this upcoming CBA meeting this Saturday. We are under evacuation advisory at this time and I’m in and out of the property at the moment. If the Railroad Fire is still progressing I will cancel the meeting for safety reasons. Look for an update on Thursday.
I just picked up 2,500 pounds of good pea sized bituminous coal in 50 pound bags. It will be available for $25 per bag to CBA members. During my trip up to Sacramento to get this I also went anvil shopping and came back with a few that will be available after mid March. One of them is a excellent condition 218 pound Peter Wright. Also a near unused 168 pound John Brooks with matching stand.
Greetings and Welcome!
This page is to help all of you who are current and new members of the California Blacksmith Association that have been meeting and doing workshops in Mariposa CA. As some of you know Bob Ringrose’s health has gotten to the point he can no longer host our monthly meetings there in Mariposa. The October 8th meeting will be the last one at Bob’s and our meetings will resume at a new location just north of Oakhurst on December 10th. There will be no meeting in November. Your new host will be Steven “Jake” Jacobs and you can contact him here on this page by using the “Contact” function or by calling his cell at 559-760-0092.
Since our members come from a wide area, Clovis, Fresno, North Fork, Oakhurst, Bootjack, Mariposa, Merced, El Portal and a few places in between and further I felt a name change to Yosemite Area for our group was appropriate.
For those of you that are new to blacksmithing and are interested in joining the CBA please follow the link attached for further information.
CBA is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to educating smiths and preserving the art and craft of blacksmithing.
Directions to the new location will be posted later.
Here’s something that’s happening up here in the local area. I’ll be demonstrating there tomorrow all day at Sierra Cider in Lushmeadows.
Had a great weekend demonstrating at Mariposa County Fair. The weather was the best they have had in over ten years! Me and my helpers, Mike Wenrich, Dale Meisenheimer and the new kid Mat Milazzo were able to stay working the forge till after 5PM all the days we were there. Did pretty well selling stuff to the public and got several people interested in joining our local CBA (California Blacksmith Association) chapter.
